What is Recovery Coaching? Recovery coaching is about holistic wellness and overall wellbriety. I am willing to coach people who are either dealing with addiction(s), seeking a way to enter the recovery process, and/or are already in recovery. As a Recovery Coach, I accept that the client is always at choice, recognize that the client is capable, whole, and resourceful, and believe that the client is innately healthy and well. I do not endorse any one treatment method over another; instead, I offer recovery coaching as a wonderful complement to whatever treatment program a client has chosen. This means that I support the client’s choice to become healthier, to choose healthier options, to become or stay clean, and to achieve or maintain his/her sobriety or abstinence. The client’s results will ultimately include being either addiction-free or addiction-reduced. Unlike with personal life coaching, with recovery coaching, my clients and I are always aware of addiction(s). However, this is not the focus. Instead, I focus on the strengths of my clients and on helping them to explore healthier, more satisfying possibilities, to gain more from their own personal investment into treatment, to achieve a healthy balance in their lives, and to create and sustain meaningful lives that are worth staying healthy for. Mine is a holistic approach, and I use the Traditional Medicine Wheel and/or the Contemporary Wheel of Life when coaching clients. I ask for a minimum six-month commitment initially, and then offer a discount rate for ongoing coaching services.
